Answer: Stake DAO has made it clear that the tokens that are locked will remain locked forever. This is because the tokens are locked with a smart contract that can not be modified or reversed. The only way for the tokens to be unlocked is if the DAO votes to not extend the lock, which is highly unlikely as it would mean that less people are staking in the platform. Therefore, the tokens are locked in the platform forever and the DAO will not be able to unlock them.
