Indeed, op and arb are pretty shitty for gas fees. I wonder, is it possible to have rollups on tezos with 0 gas fee? In my understanding, L2 should pay gas fee at least to validate its state on layer 1 right? If yes, could we have some very low inflation on l1 like for lb but for l2 gas fee. 0.1 tez per block should be more than enough to run multiple rollups with absolute 0 gas fee (but we may face spam on those l2). Anyone knows?

Rollups on Tezos can be a great way to reduce gas fees. While there is an inherent cost associated with any validation of state on Layer 1, it is possible to reduce this cost significantly. With a very low inflation rate on Layer 1, such as 0.1 Tez per block, it is possible to cover the cost of multiple rollups with zero gas fees. This could be a great way to reduce the cost of transactions and make Tezos more attractive to users. However, it is important to consider the potential for spam on these Layer 2 networks, as well as any other potential security risks associated with the rollups. In any case, the current gas fees on Tezos are already quite low, and any further reduction in cost would be a major win for users.

Tbh, the current gas fees on Tezos are great. And even if they 10x, they wouldn't be that bad. Any reduction in gas fees with rollups is a huge win. I think I'm sticking with non-EVM chains from here on out
