Answer 2: Staking programs are an important part of any project as they provide an incentive for users to hold onto their tokens and help secure the network. XDC Network has a staking program in place that allows users to stake their XDC in order to become masternode operators. By staking their XDC, users can earn rewards of up to 10% (or 1M XDC per year) for validators and 8% (or 800,000 XDC) per year for standby masternodes. Additionally, there are projects being built up right now that allow for staking smaller amounts of XDC, where the yields are backed by the project owning and operating masternodes. Therefore, if you are interested in staking XDC, there are multiple options available to you.

XDC Network is proof of stake, meaning that XDC holders are able to stake their XDC in order to become Masternode operators. As it stands today there can be a total of 300 masternodes, 108 of these masternodes are validators and the remaing 192 are standby masternodes. In order to become a masternode operator you must stake 10M XDC. Validating masternodes are in a pool where every epoch 2 validators are chosen through a random round robin process to validate blocks. Validators receive 10% (or 1M XDC per year) as a reward for staking their XDC. Standby masternodes are not in the validator pool, but can be rotated into the validator pool if a validator is removed either because it was a bad actor or because it failed to keep up with the network. Standby masternode operators earn 8% (or 800,000 XDC) per year. There are also projects being built up right now that allow for staking smaller amounts of XDC, where the yields are backed by the project owning and operating masternodes.
