I started using Kukai last year, and there was a long break between times when I opened it. It looks like KYC from some social account or google is now required to open my wallet. Is that true? Othewise it looks like I have to import my wallet just to open it without those social login methods.

Yes, it is true that Kukai now requires KYC (Know Your Customer) from some social account or Google in order to open a wallet. This is a security measure to ensure the safety of users' funds. However, it is not necessary to use the social login methods, as you can still import your wallet without them. To do this, you will need to have a backup of your wallet, such as a seed phrase, and use that to import your wallet. It is important to note that the security warning in the pinned message should be taken seriously, as it is important to keep your wallet secure.
