Based on the existing answers and question, it appears that Tezedge and GigaNode were both funded at some point but it is unclear if that funding has been cut or if their shutdown is for reasons other than monetary. It is possible that the foundation that funded them has not reached out to help fund them again, but without more information it is impossible to say for sure. It is worth noting that even if the foundation has not reached out to help fund them again, there may be other sources of funding available to help keep them running.
